Welcome to handimantractor.com. This website is dedicated to the collecting and restoring of Sears Handiman Garden tractors. Sears sold these tractors in their catalogs from 1931 to about 1942. They were and still are a significant part of the agricultural history of the United States. It is hoped that this site will serve as a source of information for the novice and the experienced collector alike.

              Dell Sasser

"During the 7 to 8 year life span of the Handimans, numerous models were offered. The last of the big Handimans had a true differential, two speeds forward, reverse, and independent wheel brakes. In all categories, these tractors were far superior to the post war walkbehinds."

Gary Treible

"The tough as nails, Handiman tractor had a major impact on how garden tractors would be marketed after 1931. Farmer demands for a simple, reliable machine with readily available repair parts was perfectly suited for Sears and Roebuck and how they did business. Sears & Roebuck offered financial security along with their stores, and an unequaled catalog network, allowed them to advertise and distribute their tractors nationally. There was no magic formula, they simply offered a superior product at a reasonable price and made parts available to repair it. As a result many smaller companies could not compete and many did not survive."
